Tournament Structure
The Mile High Open is tournament spanning two days. Day one will consist of seeding using a modified Swiss system. Day two will be a double elimination bracket. Side events will take place on lunch both days, and other extra events to be announced soon!
All games in the Mile High Open 2026 will be two 100 stone halves, save for the final, which will be 150 stones. These games will still be on a time limit of 25 minutes with a 5 minute buffer between games with exception to the final.
Teams that are late to their match assignments will be assessed a penalty of 1 point per every minute they are late. For example if a team arrives to their match 5 minutes late will be penalized 5 points. A team who is 10 minutes late or more to their match assignment will forfeit the match.
Teams are expected to arrive to their refereeing assignments on time, as well. Teams who are tardy to their referee assignments will be assessed a 5 point penalty for their match and the opposing team will be awarded skull possession for the first run. If a team is late by 10 minutes or more to their refereeing assignments they will be disqualified from the tournament. Only captains can be head refs.
Pompfen Checks
Attention everyone!
Before MHO, please make sure your Pompfen are in good condition and ready for use. We will be conducting Pompfen checks during Friday night practice and on both Saturday and Sunday mornings before matches begin to ensure all equipment meets safety and quality standards.
Please inspect your Pompfen for:
• Loose or damaged padding
• Exposed core materials
• Worn tape or coverings
• Any other damage that could affect safety or performance
• Compliance with measurement requirements
If repairs are needed, please complete them before arriving or bring the necessary materials to make repairs during the check.
Pompfen checks will be conducted at each team's tent or designated area and will require at least one team representative to be present during the inspection.
Please ensure that all Pompfen are available and accessible when inspectors come by.
All equipment must pass inspection before being used in matches
Thank you for helping us maintain a safe and fair playing environment for everyone.
Food
This year for the MHO we wanted to give players the option of having food at the field without having to break the bank on a food truck. Our solution was a classic field day lunch: sandwiches, salad, fruit, chips.
The cost for the weekend? $15. You could also choose to do only one day for half of that. It'll be on the field at lunch under the pavilion.
We just need you to register if you're interested. Please have this form completed by June 8th so we can have the order placed well in advance.
Payment can be made through Venmo @ColoradoJuggerLeauge or by cash Saturday morning during registration.
**If you register for food this cost will be added to your registration due, so you will not be able to play if it is not paid by first stone Saturday.**
Please reach out to a Tournament Organizer if you have any questions or concerns.
More info to come about MHO schedule soon!
We are happy to inform you all that we will have a mobile coffee cart called The Caffeinator Community for MHO on both Saturday and Sunday morning! They are a local, charitable coffee company that donates proceeds to help shelter animals find a forever home! They will be serving for 1 to 2 hours each morning, and we are excited to have them and provide a nice wake-up for us to get the day rolling.

Side Events
**Every side event except Qwik Race has major changes this year!**
**IMPORTANT: Each team will be asked to provide a ref for Bear Pit and Chain Pit. Be prepared to submit a player for each who does not want to compete in these events.**
The full announced list of side events is:
**Qwik Scoring/Wrestling**
**Qwik Race**
**Bear Pit**
**Chain Pit**
Schedule:
Qwik scoring will be run throughout the tournament
All other side events will be run at the start of lunch day 1 and day 2, you will have plenty of time, but plan to compete before heading out to get food.
**Bechdel Game**
Now a solid tradition at MHO, we will be hosting an exhibition match of Bechdel Test after the tournament has concluded. If you haven’t heard of the Bechdel Test: The Bechdel Test is a community for women, femmes, nonbinary people, trans men, and other gender-diverse members of the Jugger community. Dedicated to creating space for connection, discussion, support, and the occasional fun sparring game. If you’d like to join up, reach out to myself or Simone for more information!
